Good points...

We have talked about some things with another driver in the Mod Stocks about some things.

The things you stated are great, and with those said, what would YOU like to see.  Would you want us to mirror say Cleveland so that you can go run there Saturday night(s) if you wanted?  What are the guys like Tre Rayon and the Haynes doing to run Lufkin and Cleveland, etc. 

These are all things we would like feedback on.  You guys are the ones that already have the cars, not us.  We want to see the class get run more, but obviously need the car count to get up.  My dad is very partial to that class, as he used to run it.

                 JJ                Well i would have to say Tre Rayon or the Haynes would be a better judge on what track to mirror because i had my past car set up for only beaumont,better than that when we have our meeting maybe enough drivers will show up to have a majority vote that decides that at least that way if the rules change everyone will have some say in the matter.

redmod in the past you can run gator rules at motorama and cleveland you just can,t mismatch rules thin cleveland came out with those stupid asfult tires two years ago I ran motorama with gator rules and was verey competive C91 but my daughter raced this in purestock B89 but am also building a new street stock for motorama

We were thinking about running asphalt runoffs on our bomber #52 at Baytown next. Did a lot of researce on them. Two reasons we are not going to go to them:
1. They are as hard as rocks.
2. Don't want to take a chance of getting faulty tires.

IE: Say you buy 4 for you car. Mount them and find one that don't hold air. Now you have two choises, 1. buy a $25 tube. 2. Buy another tire.

After looking around I found this Sanction for Mods and any other class you would like to sanction. It is basically the weekly version of the USMTS rules. Pay close attention to the points fund for the Track Champions. ( I copied this from another site)

While the USRA exists as a rules-governing sanctioning body, our primary
goal is to serve as a marketing partner with racetrack operators and
promoters. Through national, regional and local public relations expertise
and powerful marketing strategies, our mission is to assist you in
maximizing your revenues through sponsorship and promotional initiatives, as
well as striving for increased attendance - both front gate and back gate -
at your track.

The American Racer is the Official Tire of the USRA. The American Racer
racing tire is time-tested product proven to maintain a level playing field
among competitors, and reign in costs to the drivers as well. Our
association with American Race Tires will not only benefit the USRA from a
strategic standpoint, but will benefit USRA drivers where they need it
most -- their wallets. What's more, track promoters and drivers using the
American Racer tire will actually see a return on their investment.

Casey's General Stores returned in 2007 for the third straight season as the
title sponsor of the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series.
Through the support of Casey's and dozens of other national and regional
sponsors, the USRA is able to provide track and national points funds that
are comparable or higher than other similar sanctioning bodies ten times our
size!

TRACK POINTS FUNDS: Track points funds are GUARANTEED amounts based on 16
nights of racing. Each track champion will earn a guaranteed payoff as part
of each track's year-end points fund, with the following GUARANTEED MINIMUM
points funds were awarded to the top-10 in each class at each track in 2007:

Modifieds: 1st place - $1,000; 2nd place - $700; 3rd place - $500; 4th
place - $400; 5th place - $300; 6th place - $250; 7th place - $200; 8th
place - $175; 9th place - $150; 10th place - $125.
Stock Cars: 1st place - $700; 2nd place - $500; 3rd place - $400; 4th
place - $300; 5th place - $200; 6th place - $175; 7th place - $150; 8th
place - $125; 9th-10th place - $100.
B-Mods: 1st place - $500; 2nd place - $350; 3rd place - $250; 4th place -

number of sanctioned tracks and licensed drivers.

NATIONAL POINTS FUNDS: Through sponsorship commitments, the following
GUARANTEED MINIMUM national points fund was awarded for the USRA Casey's
General Stores Weekly Racing Series in 2007:

Modifieds: 1st place - $10,000; 2nd place - $5,000; 3rd place - $3,000; 4th
place - $2,000; 5th place - $1,500; 6th place - $1,000; 7th place - $800;

Points funds for 2008 are expected to be the same or more, depending on the
number of sanctioned tracks and licensed drivers. Modifieds will change in
2008 and will award a lesser cash award to the champion, but will spread the
wealth and pay 20 positions. The 2008 Modified national points fund is
tentatively set at the following levels: 1st place - $5,000; 2nd place -
$3,000; 3rd place - $2,000; 4th place - $1,500; 5th place - $1,000; 6th
place - $800; 7th place - $700; 8th place - $600; 9th place - $550;
10th-20th place - $500.

HOW THE POINTS WORK:

Drivers competing in USRA-sanctioned Modified, Stock Car, B-Mod and Hobby
Stock divisions are eligible to compete for the USRA Casey's General Stores
Weekly Racing Series National Championship. Points will be awarded to
individual drivers competing in USRA-sanctioned events held from March
through October.

SANCTION FEES:

Annual Fee: The annual sanction fee per track is $200, regardless of the
number of classes sanctioned. However, the first sanctioned track in each
State gets a two-year waiver of the annual fee. For each sanctioned class
that utilizes the American Racer KK704 tire (Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Mods),
the track earn a $1,000 bonus at year's end. For instance, if a track
sanctions USRA Modifieds and Stock Cars, they earn a $2,000 bonus at season's
end. The only requirement is a minimum of sixteen (16) completed events.

Events: The per-event fee is just $5 per car entered in each USRA-sanctioned
class, with a minimum/maximum of $75/$200 for Modifieds, $60/$175 for Stock
Cars and $50/$150 for B-Mods and Hobby Stocks.

Any questions about the performance aspect of the asphalt pulloffs should be directed to someone who ran them on Motorama . There is really only one person who could answer this question and that is streetstock38. Mr. Cossey was a very competitive car when he was participating this season. I believe his insight could be of use to the rule making process.

Me personally, I run in the outlawstock class.  The rules of cleveland differ significantly from that of our current motorama package.

Motorama- 10 inch wheels.
                Aftermarket engine components (rods and cranks)
                Cam rule of 450 no vac.   or  450+ must pull vacuum.

Cleveland-  8 inch wheels
                stock engine parts ( rods and cranks must be stock)
                450 lift rule max


Cleveland this offseason also adopted asphalt pull off tires for the hobby/outlawstock class.



I personally think that a unified rule system will benefit every. I like to run saturdays, and I was registered at 2 saturday night tracks. One benefit to the cleveland rules package is the level of competitiveness. I ran cleveland on 2 occasions this season, and the racing was close, fast and very competitive for all participants. That level of excitement is what puts the butts in the seats. Outlawstock is one of the most exciting classes, but with our current rules package, there are only a handfull of people capable of winning on any given friday. People get tired of seeing the same 2 or 3 people win. And its not because we're not capable of winning.... its because we get out spent in the motor area. Some of these guys took the rule for granted, the aftermarket parts were allowed for reasons of so called durability. But once the door was opened, people took advantage in areas they shouldn't. Especially with the lack there of of tech at motorama this past season.   

Consider the car count at cleveland this past season. Look at the registered number of cars. That in and of itsself is remarkable for a track that reopened with its inaugural season with a inexperienced promoter. Basil(clevelands promoter), is a racer at heart with a real love for our sport. Thats obvious when you attend a drivers meeting at cleveland. He brought nothing but experience as a racer/concession employee/ track official/ ..... you name it, he's done it. What he built over there is something that motoramas lacked since the early 80's.  A fan friendly track and a completely professional show that entertains everyone.  Thats what we have been lacking at motorama for such a long time, and I hope the racer that lives within the Johnson name steps up and makes racing here fun again. With alot of hard work and cooperation from everyone, I believe this will be a great season ahead.
