Hello everyone,

I've been thinking about getting into dirt track racing. But one problem. I don't know anything about it. Can someone be so kind as to explain the different classes or at least what is an entry level class and any web sites that will have information on what is needed for the car to qualify to race?

Also are there any dirt tracks within a reasonable distance from Houston?

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to read the rules for whatever class you would like to run. The rules will tell you what is required of the car and so forth. Go to a track, battle grounds or HRP in Baytown will be close to you. Look for cars that are for sale,  find the owners and go up to them and talk to em. Don't jump up and buy a car cause someone said it was a good deal. There are lots of good deals so dont let someone sell you something that is over your head, or is more trouble than its worth.. and dont be led astray,,,,,if racing was cheap, everyone would be doing it...

Pure Stock is an entry level class. Good place to start.
