Fans in the Stands

I would like to make this point about the folks who drink too much and get out of line. If you go over to Minute Maid Park in Houston to watch the Astros(Disastros?), they sell beer there, and people, in spite of it's steep cost, drink plenty of it. I have personally witnessed folks who get out of line just the least little bit get escorted out of the stadium by security in a heartbeat. People have to realize and be made to understand that irregardless of the fact that you have to buy a ticket to get into the track, there are boundaries for behaviour, and that certain things just won't be tolerated...period. Everybody else pays for their tickets, too, and deserves to do so without being harassed by, or exposed to some obnoxious drunk acting stupid. From Glen's standpoint, you have on one side, not wanting to risk losing a regular fan who comes out every week, but on the other hand, you have those who would likely BECOME every week regulars if there was a "zero tolerance" for unruly behaviour. I'm not able to attend every week, but I have seen a few isolated incidents whereby unruly, drunk fans could have been dealt with for the benefit of many around them. For those of you who are old enough to remember, Sal Serio built Motorama Speedway in 1969 or 1970, mainly because stock car racing was huge in this area, and the behaviour at the old H&B Speedway had gotten way out of hand. Sal wanted to offer people in this area an upscale venue to enjoy stock car racing without the fights in the stands, and obnoxious behaviour. I honestly feel that Glen Johnson shares that same vision and sentiments. Many said back then that two tracks could not survive in this area, and that one would end up failing. I think it's pretty obvious that the one without all the B.S. going on is the one that survived...Ought to tell you something...
