Vivian, LA - With nearly forty days of temps 100' and higher with no rain in sight, the 4th annual Tootsie Smith Memorial Race was held at ARK-LA-TEX Speedway. Despite the horrendous heat, a huge crowd was on hand to see the 78 Limited Modified racers contesting for a position in the starting field of twenty. $3,000 would eventually go to the winner of this race. Thankfully, race sponsors Mark Smith and Gene Boyter had enough water to prep the very racy 1/4 mile track to put on a spectacular event for the race fan, along with the sometimes wild 78 Limited Modifieds, fans were treated to great racing from three additional support classes consisting of factory Stocks, Cruisers, and Pro-Mods.
